During the lockdown, Laura Nsengiyumva developed her own “itorero”, a Rwandan rite of passage in which she considers the emotional importance of the return of stolen art. Her daily ritual grew into an artistic exchange between Rwandan artists in which ‘black anger’ and ‘black joy’ converge. For SOKL she brings her itorero to Antwerp, where an exhibition in the City Museum about restitution has just ended…
